Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNO): The Kashmir Houseboat Owners Association (KHBOA) has raised concerns over the continuous hike in their electricity bills, which they say is causing significant stress for them. The Association also called on Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department (PDD), Rajesh Prasad, to address the issue. Speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Association members expressed their frustration with the frequent increases in electricity charges, especially during the off-season when business is slow. They said these hikes make it extremely difficult for houseboat owners to manage their finances. Manzoor Pakhtoon, President of KHBOA, told KNO that the continuous rise in electricity bills is putting immense pressure on them. “It has become increasingly difficult to cope with these bills, especially during off-season months when we hardly make any profit,” “We have been requesting the PDD to install electric meters in our houseboats, so the bills reflect actual consumption, making payments more manageable,” he added. He said the association remains hopeful that the authorities will take timely action to address these concerns and reduce the financial burden on houseboat owners—(KNO)
